When the Unexpected Happens ~ I'm sitting on the lanai enjoying the cool temperatures and light rain as Tropical Storm Gordon skirts by us. I see a bird flash by...and land in the tree right off the lanai. Unfortunately, it's difficult to get a clear shot shooting through a screen. But, I guess this guy wanted to look his best when he saw the camera, so he flew to a different tree...out front with no obstructions. He allowed me to take a few shots before he looked for drier ground. I was on my front porch...under cover, and he was so close that these photos are not cropped. Even though he was wet and appeared miserable, this Red-shouldered Hawk stopping by made my day!
